From her debut at age 16, she has leaned full-throttle into her God-given gifts, racking up 16 No. 1 hits, penning three books, acting in seven films, gracing 50 magazine covers and launching a non-profit clothing line.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But the dream has seen its share of soul-searching questions, loves and losses, enough to bring any young woman to her knees. And just as the lyric of her 2006 hit \u201cOn My Knees\u201d predicted, she has learned, in laughter or in pain, to survive. Her survival is built on trust.\u00a0\u201cI may not know what to do or what the future holds,\u201d she says, \u201cbut I trust that God does.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row sqs-row\">\n<div class=\"col sqs-col-12 span-12\">\n<div id=\"block-yui_3_17_2_5_1488816748969_11427\" class=\"sqs-block html-block sqs-block-html\" data-block-type=\"2\">\n<div class=\"sqs-block-content\">\n<p>Set for international release on March 31, <strong><em>Trust<\/em> <\/strong>marks several firsts for Velasquez, a Dove Award winner and <em>Billboard<\/em> Latin Music Award winner with five Spanish albums to her credit. Not only is it her first album in over five years, her first worship album and her first project with Integrity Music, this 18th recording is the first simultaneously released in both English (<strong><em>Trust<\/em><\/strong>) and Spanish (<em><strong>Conf\u00edo<\/strong><\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Produced by David Leonard (All Sons &amp; Daughters) and Chris Bevins (Salvador, Phillips, Craig &amp; Dean), <strong><em>Trust <\/em><\/strong>finds Velasquez taking a decidedly vertical turn, exploring new territory where her faith has been bolstered through seasons of uncertainty that led to a place of complete trust.<\/p>\n<p>Certainly, it is a reflection of how her faith has been shaped and strengthened by motherhood with the added challenges of being mom to a special needs child. \u201cWe started noticing when Zealand was two,\u201d she says, \u201cbut the official diagnosis came in 2nd grade. \u00a0When they told us it was Autism, I went through a time of mourning the death of the dreams I had for him.\u201d It took some time, but she began to dream new dreams for her son, \u201charvesting the gifts I could see in him.\u201d Today, at 9, Zealand excels in music, in both singing and piano. \u201cHis ear is even better than mine,\u201d his proud mom says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody has faith in something,\u201d says Jaci, who served as the 2013 spokesperson for Autism Speaks\u2019 Tennessee Walk Now. \u201cBut at the end of the day, if you\u2019re looking to yourself to keep everything under control, God isn\u2019t part of the equation. That\u2019s where trust comes in, understanding that God loves your children even more than you do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Trust <\/em><\/strong>features 10 anthems that sing of God\u2019s faithfulness, a modern worship and pop hybrid sure to resonate with anyone caught up in the chaotic uncertainty of the everyday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know a lot about worship as a music genre,\u201d Velasquez freely admits, \u201cbut I know how God can use music to move people. What we experience in church, in worship, we want to have that experience every day\u2026 at home, in the car. In the middle of the day, God uses it to meet us in the middle of our chaos, to move us closer to him, to remind us of who we are and who He is.\u201d \u00a0In fact, she really wasn\u2019t convinced a worship album was meant to be until she found herself comforting her youngest son, Soren, 7, in the middle of the night, after a bad dream.<\/p>\n<p><em>The rocks are falling, the broken calling to the God who moves the mountains<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The earth is shaking, the weary waken to the God who moves the mountains<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019re scared and don\u2019t know what to do, I want you to remember this,\u201d she told him. Then she played \u201cGod Who Moves Mountains,\u201d written by David Leonard, Dustin Smith and Richie Fike. \u00a0Standing in his room, she closed her eyes and, as the words washed over mom and boy, she raised her hands. When the song was over, they both had tears in their eyes. \u201cOur lives were changed in that moment because God met us there in a song,\u201d she says. \u201cMusic is powerful and healing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Slow me down enough to hear your voice \/ Speak your words of mercy over all the noise<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cRest,\u201d a melodic ballad co-written with her husband Nic Gonzales (Salvador) and Greg Sykes, will undoubtedly resonate with mothers and fathers who hit the ground running all day, every day. Sitting down at 10pm for her first meal of the day, looking at a 4:20am wake up time for the next day, Velasquez realized she hadn\u2019t even talked to God all day long. \u201cIf I don\u2019t rest, I\u2019m just spinning my wheels,\u201d she says of the song\u2019s origins the next day. \u201cIt\u2019s not going to mean anything unless I give it all to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A percussion-driven joyride, \u201cThe Sound of Your Kingdom,\u201d written by indie-artist Ryan Corn, is as contagious as a song can get. \u201cI fell in love with it, not only for what it says, but for how it makes you feel,\u201d Velasquez says. \u201cWhen God sees us, he hears what we offer back to him\u2014our worship, our joy, our laughter, our honor, blessing and praise\u2014that\u2019s the sound of his kingdom.\u201d One of her boys\u2019 favorites and a great reminder that we\u2019re part of something really big and ongoing, she says.<\/p>\n<p>From \u201cPraise the King,\u201d a phenomenal Easter-every-day celebration, to \u201cGreat Are You Lord,\u201d an ethereal anthem\/duet with her husband, to Martin Smith\u2019s \u201cGreat Is Your Faithfulness,\u201d to \u201cNever As Dark As It Seems,\u201d a powerful reminder for tumultuous times written by Michael Farren, Mike Grayson and Seth Moseley\u2014<strong><em>Trust <\/em><\/strong>echoes the courage that rises from understanding the One we worship.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>When my body\u2019s shaking, my faith wont\u2019 be broken \/ You lift me up, my heart is wide open <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>I know you are my light, and I trust you<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrust You,\u201d which Velasquez wrote with Aruna Abrams, James Slater and Bobby Hamrick, encapsulates the heart of the album.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember, before Zealand was diagnosed, sobbing in the office of the school,\u201d Velasquez recalls. \u201cAll I could do was cry, my body was shaking in fear.
